About the Vics.
Borrowash Victoria was formed in 1911 playing in the Long Eaton & District Church League. In the 1930's the club moved for a short time to the Derby Amateur League but returned in in 1937. After the World War II, the team was reformed as the Borrowash Wesleyan Youth Club, it was successful in the Derby & District Welfare League winning title in 1953 but falling away to disband in 1957.
Six years later they took the place of Borrowash Youth Club in the lower divisions of the Welfare League and began a rise in status with outstanding consistency over the next 20 years. They gained promotion year on year progressing throught the Central Alliance and East Midlands Regional Leagues into the Midlands Counties League, by which time the Vics had become one of the leading amateur clubs in Derbyshire.
Champions and Cup winners of Division 1 in 1980/81, the were denied promotion due to inadequate ground facilities at their Deans Drive home. In 1982 when the Midlands League and Yorkshire Amateur League merged to form the Northern Counties East League, Vics, managed by Neil Kellogg and Tom Keogh, won the Division 1 title at the first attempt by a clear margin but once again they were denied promotion to the Premier Division because of the facilities. It was decided the club would move to the Asterdale club in the neighbouring village of Spondon. The Asterdale Bowl was developed with floodlights, perimeter fencing, changing rooms and a covered spectator standing area. This enabled the club to enter the F.A. Cup and the F.A. Vase.
In 1986 a number of leading Midlands clubs formed the Supreme Division of the Central Midlands League of which the Vics became a founder member. In 1993 the owners offered the Asterdale Bowl Complex to the Vics. After long and hard negotiations, with the help of the local council, the site was purchased. With the a great amount of assistance of Robinson Contruction, the club built a 250 seat stand which gave the club the springboard to move upward in the pyramid system.
The club has won 4 Championships, 3 League Cups. The Derbyshire Divisional Cup was won 1973/74 and since 1975 the Vics have been a selected entrant in the Derbyshire Senior Cup, reaching the final in 1990/91 losing to Gresley Rovers in a 2 legged final. Also in that season Vics reached the last 32 of the F.A. vase losing to Bridlington Town 3-1. Under the management of Martin Rowe in 1992/93 the Vics were one round away from the 1st Round Proper of the F.A. Cup, beating St. Helens Town 3-1, Belper Town 2-0, Macclesfield Town of the Conference 2-1 before losing 0-3 to Emley.
The club returned to the Northern Counties East League in 1995 where they held their own in Division 1. Under the guidance of Mick Rodgers and Gary Adul the Vics won the Division 1 title in 2000/01 season and again reached the last 32 of the F.A. Vase losing to Hallen 1-2. This time the facilities allowed promotion to the Premier Division. This is the highest level of the football that the Vics have achieved in their long history but were relegated to Division 1 at the end of 2004/05 season. With Gary Redfern and Kenny Thompson the club is looking to bounce straight back into Premier Division.
With the reserve team playing in the Belfield Midlands Regional Alliance, and with progression of players from local youth team Chesapeake F.C. the future looks promising for the Vics.
